October 2008: Innerpartysystem By Brian Campbell |
| |
If you are reading this and you have no earthly idea who the band Innerpartysystem is, then shame on you. They are currently touring the country, and are fresh off the heels of their major debut self titled release.
In so many words, they are hungry.
They are young and vibrant and that definitely comes through in their music. Think the Chemical Brothers and Kill Hannah together, as one, musically. Their single ‘Don’t Stop’ is currently getting all sorts of airplay, both on TV (which is RARE) and on satellite radio. FUSE TV’s best show, Stevens Untitled Rock Show, airs the video almost daily.
Their music is a rock/dance/electronica hybrid; thick, chunky guitars, layered vocals and harmonics and a healthy dose of synth, keys and sampling. It is the type of music that could presumably fill a rock arena, and also a nightclub. You can dance to it and at the same time mosh to it. They are surely unabashed in songwriting, often writing about social issues and even going so far as to label the media ‘liars’ in ‘Don’t Stop.’
Innerpartysystem calls middle-Pennsylvania home. They are coming on strong and these United States are about to take notice. From the West Coast to the East, the boys are hitting the pavement with 3Oh!3 and the Chain Gang of 1974 for the better part of October and the entire month of November, including a two show stint for Halloween in Englewood, CO.
If you are someone who is looking for the next big thing in music, then Innerpartysystem is right up your alley. They are a band you should have on your radar.
