Democratic National Convention: Night Two

Democratic National Convention: Night Two To anyone who had doubts about Hillary Clinton’s commitment to seeing Barack Obama as the next President of the United States, her speech at the Convention should go a long way to easing those fears. Yes, Tuesday night was Hillary night. The long awaited event has happened and it was everything Democrats were hoping for.

Her first order of business was to address the question everybody has been asking, “What does Hillary want?” Well it’s now clear that what Hillary wants is to see Barack Obama as our next President.

Finally, the PUMA movement and those like them are exposed for what they are. They are not Hillary supporters, they are Republicans trying to disrupt and divide the Democratic Party. Hillary made it quite clear that it’s just not possible that any supporter of hers could in anyway support John McCain. From here on in we can discount PUMAs as what they are, Republican operatives.

Some other highlights from the evening: Dennis Kucinich of course. Dennis is a Democratic favorite and his speech Tuesday night shows why. Another highlight included Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, who gave a ramped up speech that still has me feeling pumped and ready to work for victory.

On a less positive note, three men were arrested on Tuesday night in connection with a plot to assassinate Barack Obama. The three men apparently have connections to the white supremacist group Aryan Nations. Apparently the plot was to shoot Obama during his speech Thursday night.

These arrests really bring up the question of security in a big way. There are a lot of us who still worry about the safety of Barack Obama and these arrests really bring those fears home. So a big hats off to the Denver Police whose quick action foiled this plot before it had a chance to go any further.

But back to Hillary. She got a heroes welcome at the Convention and it was a welcome that was justly deserved. From all Democrats and myself, thank you Hillary for all your hard work and your commitment to our party and this nation, you are a great American.
