Springsteen To "Stand Up For Heroes" With Concert Performance
Bruce Springsteen and wife Patti Scialfa have been tapped to perform at this year's "Stand Up For Heroes" benefit gala. "USA Today" says the event, dubbed "Stand-Up For Heroes: A Benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation," is set for November 5th at New York City's Town Hall, taking place in conjunction with the New York Comedy Festival. The fundraiser supports the foundation named after ABC News anchorman Bob Woodruff, who was injured while reporting in Iraq in 2006, and aims to assist members of the U.S. military who have been injured while serving in the war. Last year's inaugural event brought in more than two-million-dollars. This time around, in addition to Springsteen and Scialfa, British comedian Ricky Gervais will also entertain the crowd while Regis Philbin will emcee the event and Whoopi Goldberg will be the auctioneer.
