Hudson: New Album Allows Me To Escape Previous Roles
Still reeling off last week's release of her debut album, Jennifer Hudson says she's happy to finally reveal the real her. The former "American Idol" finalist tells MTV News she feels she was able to escape the role of "the contestant" or her character in the movie "Dreamgirls," saying she is truly introduced as herself. Hudson worked with the likes of Timbaland, Ne-Yo, and Robin Thicke to put together her first collection of songs. She says the song that Thicke worked with her on is her favorite track because it shows her fans she can do anything when it comes to her music. She notes, quote, "It's unexpected from me, but it still is me," and adds that she loves how Thicke, quote, ""allowed me to be me but introduced another side." Hudson's self-titled debut album is in stores now. She'll be promoting the disc with an appearance on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" tonight.
