Patti LaBelle - Strong And Grateful
Patti LaBelle isn't complaining about much these days. The veteran pop-R&B star says she believes dealing with diabetes along with the other challenges that come with aging has made her stronger, and she tells "The Arizona Republic," quote, "I appreciate so much what I've been given and it's a blessing to still be recording and performing at 64." LaBelle notes that she also brings this strength to the stage, so she can let fans know, quote, "that Patti LaBelle from back in the day is still here." But there is one thing she's not thrilled about -- outdoor concerts. LaBelle explains, quote, "I don't like the bugs. When you open your mouth to hit a high note, you eat about 16 bugs." But the singer might have to deal with insects for a performance this weekend. She's slated to be the first night headliner at the inaugural Festival in the Desert, taking place in Phoenix, Arizona Friday through Sunday. |
