Rise Against Wants Young Fans To Rise To Voting Occasion
Rise Against knows that some of their fans aren't quite voting age yet, but that doesn't mean the kids can't be part of the process. The group came up with several things their under-18 fans can do to take an active role in the election. Band members tell Buzznet.com that their young followers can do the legwork in finding out when and where their voting-age friends and family members are supposed to vote to help make sure there are no excuses for these people not to cast a ballot. The band also suggests young people use their MySpace, Facebook, or voice mail to leave messages encouraging people to go to the polls, and note that they could offer to babysit for voting parents so those with little ones can venture out to vote. Rise Against suggests kids e-mail their favorite acts and finding out what those performers are doing to get out the vote, and urge them to do something if they aren't. The group says, quote, "Create a dialogue about change and apathy. Get people thinking about their decisions or lack thereof." Election day is coming up on November 4th. |
