A Better Warped World
The Warped Tour not only brings rock to fans across the country, but organizers are also doing their best to make a difference in the world. In recent years, The Warped Tour's Unite The United nonprofit arm has supported an average of 21 charitable and activism tents each day, and now some of the returns are starting to be counted. This year alone, over 350-thousand dollars was raised for charities nationwide, and the tour's Eco Initiative collected over 40-thousand pounds of recyclables. Some of the numbers from this year's tour include more than 64-hundred voter signature petitions for Amnesty International, 35-hundred first time voters registered for Declare Yourself, and 45-thousand dollars raised for Invisible Children, and over three-thousand signatures collected for Lokahi's petitions supporting Oxfam, ONE, and FACE Aids. In addition, 45-thousand blood donations were logged, and more than 58-hundred people registered as blood marrow donors for Music Saves Lives. |
