McCartney Mad At McDonald's
Paul McCartney's upset with McDonald's. Britain's "Telegraph" says the rock legend became angry when he saw a photograph of The Beatles displayed prominently in a Liverpool McDonald's, and he wants his fans to stop patronizing the fast food chain. McCartney spokesman Geoff Baker calls it "ridiculous and insulting to use images to peddle hamburgers," and questions, quote, "What sort of morons do McDonald's think Beatles' fans are?" He adds, quote, "Fans should boycott McDonald's, and not just in Liverpool." McCartney's ire over the unauthorized passive endorsement is in part because he's an ardent animal rights advocate and vegetarian. But a McDonald's rep notes there was no intention to offend anyone, explaining that the picture was hung simply to, quote, "acknowledge the outstanding contribution The Beatles made to both local and global culture."
