Elvis Presley's Holiday Video
With a little help from technology, Elvis Presley is welcoming a special guest for a song at his famed '68 comeback special. While the concert took place 40 years, when country star Martina McBride was only two-years-old, she's going back in time to sing "Blue Christmas" with Elvis at the legendary show. At least that's how it looks. Producer George Flanigen notes the video magic is yielding a new video for the song, which is featured on the recently released "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets." He explains that the video-making process was similar to how Elvis "appeared" on "American Idol" last year. But for the clip McBride was filmed in front of a green screen and added to the existing Elvis footage -- which is the only known video of Presley singing a Christmas song. Flanigen says in the original there's a space between Elvis and guitarist Scotty Moore, and it looks very natural to have McBride sitting there. He adds, quote, "There are shots where he and Martina share the frame, where he looks over at her, where she looks back at him and sings and smiles." The Presley-McBride "Blue Christmas" video made its broadcast debut Monday on the syndicated "Entertainment Tonight," and was posted online at USAToday.com. It will begin airing on CMT on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the video will be available for download from Elvis.com and digital music and video providers.
