Barry Manilow's "Ready To Take A Chance Again" peaked at number eleven on the pop singles chart. Chic's "Le Freak" broke into the Top 40. The Bee Gees' "Too Much Heaven" broke into the Top 40. Billy Joel's album "52nd Street" was the top selling album. 1981 - Little River Band's album "Time Exposure" was certified Gold. 1986 - Madonna's album "True Blue" was certified multi-Platinum. Peter Cetera's album "Solitude/Solitaire" was certified Gold. 1988 - The movie "Buster," starring Phil Collins, opened in theaters. 1989 - New Kids On The Block's "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)" peaked at number eight on the pop singles chart. Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" broke into the Top 40. 1991 - Amy Grant's album "Heart In Motion" was certified multi-Platinum. 1996 - Enrique Iglesias' self-titled album was certified Platinum. Madonna's album "Something To Remember" was certified multi-Platinum. 1997 - Hanson released the album "Snowed in." The band was also appearing at a shopping mall in Grapevine, Texas, and 25 people were injured trying to get in to see the group. The Material Girl came in at number six on the list. The trial of alleged Sheryl Crow stalker Ambrose Kappos began in Manhattan. The former Navy diver was found not guilty just a couple of weeks later. 2006 - Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony were among the star studded crowd who attended the wedding ceremony of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. 2007 - Two former "American Idol" finalists won major honors at the "2007 American Music Awards." Carrie Underwood took home three trophies along with Chris Daughtry who also won a hattrick. Justin Timberlake took two awards home while other winners included Rihanna, Fergie and Beyonce.<
