Paterson Demands Legislature Acts In Tuesday's Special Session
(New York, NY) -- Governor David Paterson is hoping New York lawmakers can show leadership in today?s special economic session, by voting on his bills that aim to slice two-billion dollars from the state's budget. Paterson says he's disappointed members of the legislature have not had any input since receiving drafts of his bill last week. He says they've simply avoided taking action. The governor says the cuts need to be done in order to help close this year's one-point-five-billion-dollar deficit. He stresses if the Senate and Assembly do not vote on his bills, the state will have to deal with a 15-billion-dollar deficit next year. |
