New McCartney-Youth CD To Debut Online Thursday
Paul McCartney's next album won't be in stores until next week, but fans can check it out in its entirety today. "Electric Arguments," the former Beatle's collaboration with Killing Joke bassist Youth, will be posted online at MySpace Thursday. People will be able to access the material to listen to it, but they won't be able to download any songs. "Electric Arguments," released under the name The Fireman, will be out on CD Tuesday. A vinyl edition is slated for release on December 16th. "Electric Arguments" is The Fireman's third album, and their first release in ten years. It's also the first time the two have incorporated words into their experimental sound, which McCartney credits to Youth. The classic rocker tells BBC 6 Music that previously he would put down a "normal" base track and then, quote, "throw in all sorts of wonky stuff." But he notes this time around Youth asked him about adding some vocals. Recalling their conversation, McCartney says he told Youth he didn't have any lyrics or melodies in mind, but Youth just kept quiet, knowing he'd eventually promise to "give it a try."
