In 1980 The Ramones were guests on "The Midnight Special." In 1987 R.E.M. broke into the UK pop singles chart with "The One I Love." In 1990 Los Angeles authorities decided they didn't have enough evidence to prosecute Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose. He'd been charged with assault in connection with a dispute with his neighbor. In 2001 Twisted Sister reunited for "New York Steel: A Hard Rock Benefit Show for the NYPD/FDNY," which raised money for the families of the police and fire department victims of the World Trade Center collapse. Anthrax, The Ace Frehley Band, Sebastian Bach, and Overkill also performed. Creed's "Weathered" debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart with sales of more than more than 887-thousand copies in its first week. In 2002 Bon Jovi performed at halftime during the Detroit Lions-New England Patriots Thanksgiving Day football game. In 2004 Franz Ferdinand bassist Bob Hardy was hospitalized in Japan with a stomach ailment. He remained in the hospital for four days, and missed a couple of U.S. concerts with the group. In 2005 Black Sabbath, the Sex Pistols, and Blondie were named as inductees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2006. In 2006 Guns N' Roses cancelled a concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin because frontman Axl Rose was battling an ear infection and strep throat. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was named the best pop song of the past 20 years by Britain's "Q" magazine. Incubus released the album "Light Grenades."<
