Buffy Sainte-Marie Receives Musical Honor
Buffy Sainte-Marie is being honored in her homeland. The veteran singer is slated to receive the Lifetime Contribution to Aboriginal Music award in recognition of her lengthy, inspirational, and successful career. Sainte-Marie, who was born on the Piapot Cree Indian reservation, has a long history as a musician, visual artist, and social activist, and has worked to promote education in the Native American community. She'll receive her special award at the 2008 Canadian Aboriginal Awards, taking place in Toronto Friday night. |
