Live Earth India Cancelled In Wake Of Terrorist Attacks
The major music event Live Earth India will no longer take place after nearly 200 people were killed in terrorist attacks in the city of Mumbai. The organization's CEO Kevin Wall and backer Al Gore said in a joint statement released to "Access Hollywood" that they are "saddened" to have to cancel the concert. They said they have always felt safe and welcome in Mumbai and send their prayers to the victims' families. The concert, scheduled to take place December 7th, would have featured performances from Bon Jovi, Roger Waters, and will.i.am, among others. Wall and Gore added in their statement that they will continue to work for solutions to the climate crisis for the good of people in India and around the world. The cancellation comes after three days of terrorists attacks in Mumbai last week. Indian authorities blame neighboring Pakistan for supporting the terrorists responsible for the attacks. Meanwhile, the Pakistani ambassador told the U.S. on ABC's "This Week" that Pakistan and India must work together to combat terrorism.
