Susanna Hoffs, Matthew Sweet Get "Under The Covers" Again
Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet are continuing their musical partnership with a second volume of cover songs. The pair, who issued "Under The Covers, Vol. 1" in 2006, mine the music of the '70s for this second set. Hoffs tells Billboard.com, quote, "The records that we cover are records we love. There's out-of-tune singing, out-of-tune guitars, the drum tracks are speeding up and slowing down. Those records are great because they're about the feel. They capture the emotion and they're not about perfection." The 16-track set includes such classics as Rod Stewart's "Maggie May," Big Star's "Back Of A Car," and Yes' "I've Seen All Good People." The album drops July 21st.
Sweet is also co-producing Hoffs' new album with the Bangles. According to Billboard.com, the group is about three songs deep in the project. The Bangles just completed an East Coast tour with more dates planned for the fall. |
