The first of two Kiss comics from Marvel Comics was released. The red ink used in the printing was said to contain small amounts of blood from each of the band members.

In 1979
Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten appeared on the British TV show "Jukebox Jury," along with actress Joan Collins.

Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament testified at a congressional hearing about the rising cost of concert ticket prices.

The Vans Warped Tour, featuring Bad Religion and the Specials, began in Phoenix.
In 2000
Nine people were killed and 24 injured during Pearl Jam's set at the Roskilde festival in Denmark when the crowed rushed toward the stage. Fans toward the back pushed forward because they couldn't hear the show.
In 2004
David Bowie cancelled the remainder of his European tour as he continued his recovery from what at the time was said to be treatment for a pinched nerve in his shoulder. He'd actually had angioplasty surgery several days earlier to open a blocked artery.
Great White frontman Jack Russell filed a libel suit in Los Angeles against his former publicist. The singer claimed that after he fired the spokeswoman for allegedly lying to the media about the group, she threatened to tell the press the band was stealing money from the Station Family Fund -- a charity set up for the victims of the deadly Rhode Island nightclub fire ignited during the band's show -- if she didn't get a severance package.
Dashboard Confessional wrapped up its Civic Tour with a show in Pittsburgh.
In 2007
R.E.M. played the first of five "working rehearsals" at Dublin's Olympia Theatre, previewing new songs for the band's then-upcoming album "Accelerate."
AC/DC's Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams and former Rainbow and Deep Purple singer Joe Lynn Turner launched the Classic Rock Cares tour in Fort Myers, Florida. The trek raised money for the John Entwistle Foundation, which provides instruments and music education for underprivileged children.
