U2 Honors Jackson, Suu Kyi During Tour Opener
U2 is not averse to providing shout-outs where warranted in their performances, and they chose the classic "Angel Of Harlem" during their tour opener in Barcelona, Spain Tuesday to pay homage to Michael Jackson. During the song, Bono managed to work in bits of Jackson favorites "Man In The Mirror" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" into the performance. The set was heavy on their "No Line On The Horizon" tracks, beginning with the show-opening foursome of "Breathe," "No Line On The Horizon," "Get On Your Boots," and "Magnificent."
The group also started their nightly tribute to former Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi by playing "Walk On" and asking fans to don the masks from their website as a show of support. Suu Kyi has been under house arrest since winning an election three years ago. The North American leg of U2's tour kicks off September 12th in Chicago. |
