NYC Congresswoman To Take On Senator Gillibrand
(New York, NY) -- It appears New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will have some competition in the 2010 Democratic primary. "The Daily News" of New York City reports they've learned Manhattan Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney has decided to take on the freshman lawmaker despite calls from party leaders for Gillibrand to be unchallenged. An unnamed senior advisor to Maloney tells "The Daily News" an official announcement will come in two weeks. Senior Senator Charles Schumer has been urging potential Gillibrand opponents to bow out. Governor David Paterson chose Gillibrand in January to fill Hillary Clinton's seat when she left to become Secretary of State.< |
