Cuomo Hails Crack Down On Sex Offenders In Cyberspace
(Kenmore, NY) -- Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says his efforts to crack down on sex offenders in cyberspace have booted thousands off of popular social networking sites. He says more than 43-hundred convicted sex offenders statewide have had profiles taken down from sites such as Facebook, MySpace and 13 others. Sex offenders in New York are now required to register email addresses and chat room screen names with law enforcement. That information is then passed on to the web sites for them to block access. Cuomo says he had no idea the problem was going to be that big. |
